Soft Tissue Surgery

Soft Tissue Surgery

Apart from ligament reconstructions we also perform a variety of soft tissue procedures of the knee including surgery for meniscal injuries. The meniscus is a soft cartilaginous structure within the knee joint which can sometimes get damaged following an acute injury. The meniscus does not have good healing potential and often the torn part needs to be removed. This therefore reduces the area of meniscus that can effectively act as a shock absorber of the knee joint. Occasionally, a torn meniscus can be repaired using innovative techniques, which then allows the meniscus to heal. We strive to repair the meniscus whenever feasible, to allow it to continue to perform its shock-absorbing function effectively and thereby prevent rapid progression of osteoarthritis in the knee joint.
